Starskate Test Days
Test Days are special days set aside for skaters to demonstrate their skills in order to advance to the next level of skating in the different disciplines of skating in the Skate Canada program series: Skills, Freeskate, Dance and Artistic or Competitive.
STARSkate 1-5 (or low test days) are run on our regular scheduled ice time with assessments being conducted by our own coaches. High Test Days - Star 6 to Diamond level tests are offered locally and in various clubs in the area on set dates. These test days are done in collaboration with other clubs in our area as the tests require a certified Skate Canada Judge to perform the evaluation. This makes for efficient use of time, costs and resources. |
There are two or three test days scheduled during the regular skating season. The skater's coach(es) generally determines whether or not the skater is ready to test and submit the skater's name to the Test Chairman.
Test fees apply for all Skate Canada evaluations. These fees are necessary to cover the cost of ice rental and other expenses incurred for the test day. Additional fees such as an administration fee, and if applicable, dance partnering fees are also applied. Fees must be paid in full prior to testing. Members and parents are reminded that skaters must be in good standing of their home club (i.e. no outstanding fees, dues or other monies owed to the club) in order to be eligible to test. All tests on the final listed must be paid in full regardless if the skater performs the test.
Each club is required to submit their high test list to Skate Canada of requested evaluations 3 weeks prior to the test, and must confirm their final list of evaluations 2 weeks prior to the test.
